Accelerate activities on the implementation of the Šepak – Banja Luka – Novi Grad gas pipeline project

The Acting Executive Director for Legal Affairs of the Public Enterprise "Autoputevi Republika Srpska", Siniša Gavrić, and his associates attended a meeting dedicated to the coordination and harmonization of the activities of the competent institutions in the project for the construction of the main gas pipeline Šepak - Banja Luka - Novi Grad, organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Republika Srpska.
At the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of the Republic Administration for Geodesy and Property and Legal Affairs, the company "Sarajevo - Gas" a. d. East Sarajevo, the contractor, namely the company "Konvar" Belgrade and "Gasteks" Inđija, an overview of the activities implemented so far on the project, and the participants defined specific tasks and obligations for the coming period, to ensure the most efficient implementation of all upcoming activities, the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Republika Srpska announced.
Representatives of the competent institutions and organizations expressed their full commitment to maximally accelerate the procedures and activities necessary for the implementation of the project, within their competences, while intensifying mutual communication and coordination, as key prerequisites for its successful implementation.
The participants of the meeting recalled that in the previous period, the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska adopted the Law on a Special Procedure for Expropriation for the Construction of the aforementioned Main Gas Pipeline, which created the conditions for faster resolution of property and legal relations along the gas pipeline route. It was also emphasized that amendments to the Regulation on Technical Norms for the Transport of Natural Gas by Main Gas Pipelines and Gas Pipelines for International Transport were adopted, which enable more rational use of space and reduction of costs for the construction of gas infrastructure.
It was emphasized that the construction of the main gas pipeline represents one of the most important development projects in the Republika Srpska, which will enable a safer and more reliable supply of natural gas, contribute to the diversification of energy sources, strengthen energy security, and create the prerequisites for economic development and new investments.
The implementation of this project will enable natural gas to be made available as an energy source to a larger number of local communities, business entities, and households, which will make a significant contribution to the gasification process of the Republika Srpska and the improvement of the overall energy infrastructure.
It was also concluded that in the coming period, coordination of activities with local communities should be strengthened, and they should urgently initiate activities related to the construction of a secondary network in their areas.
