Gradiška – Banja Luka (1st phase)
Pursuant to the Contract 3729/02 dated 24/07/2002 entered into between the Republic Road Directorate, as the Client, and Physical Planning Institute of the Republic of Srpska, as the Designer, technical documents, Main design for the execution of the E-661 motorway, section Gradiška – Banja Luka, section Banja Luka – Glamočani (hereinafter: “Project documents”).
This section, from Banja Luka airport to Glamočani, is a part of the future motorway from Banja Luka to Okučani (up to the Belgrade – Zagreb motorway). Such route is connected to the road route already classified as the important one in Europe.
E661 route goes east from the concerned motorway. However, due to its size and traffic structure, it has proved to be insufficient to accept current and expected traffic flows. Therefore, the planned motorway should become the arterial road in the transit traffic (and take over the role of the European road route E661) while the existing road should supply the traffic in its close vicinity.
Normal cross section elements of the motorway are as follows:
Four traffic lanes of 3.75m (each carriageway has two traffic lane)
Two marginal strips along the central reserve of 0.50m (each carriageway has one marginal strip)
Two marginal strips along the stopping lane of 0.20m (each carriageway has one marginal strip)
Two stopping lanes of 2.50m (each carriageway has one stopping lane)
Two shoulders of 1.50m (each carriageway has one shoulder)
Central reserve 4.00m between the road surfaces (carriageways)
